How winnings in betting are calculated

Asian format

Asian bookmakers use three varieties of formats:

Hong Kong
Indonesian
Malaysian

Hong Kong format

This is the counterpart to the fractional variant, which has a decimal expression. For example: 1/2 here looks like 0.5, 2/3 looks like 0.67, 11/5 looks like 2.2. The Hong Kong format can also be compared to the decimal format. To translate this, just add one unit: 2.2 equals 3.2 as we are used to. To convert Hong Kong to European, simply add 1. Thus, 3.57 will transform into our customary 4.57, and 0.23 will become 1.23.

The Indonesian format

This variant is similar to the American one in almost all respects, except for units. It is based on 1, not 100. For instance, a 2 will get you double the stake and a -3 will require you to stake three times the potential PE.

Malaysian format

This is the most complicated way of expressing odds, which is partly similar to the Hong Kong format. It combines the principles of the English and American formats. It is expressed by decimals with different signs. Positive is completely identical to Hong Kong's (no " " sign). For instance, 0.25 is our usual 1.25.

The principle of calculation is not that complicated:

- The invisible plus sign means that you have to give more than you get - this includes all odds up to 2, if you take the analogue from the European quotes;
- A minus means you will have to give less, to get more, it means the analogues of odds over 2 (-0.83 means you will have to give 83 cents to get $1).

If in doubt about being able to correctly calculate sports betting at Asian odds, remember how they translate to European form. This will allow you to assess the benefit of the bet before it is made. After the end of the event, the calculation of winnings is made automatically by the BK. You will see the amount deposited into your account, and you will be able to calculate your profit. You can also take advantage of the betwinner bonus by betting without investing for a while.
