Final Fantasy 16 - Ideas on what the new installment of the series should look like

Final Fantasy 16 is likely to be released after Square Enix sold over 8.1 million copies of Noctis adventures (September 2018 data). The successive releases of Final Fantasy XV have helped a lot in achieving this result - including the anticipated PC version. To this should be added the huge commercial success of Final Fantasy XIV. This MMORPG is still very popular and will probably also be on the next generation of Sony, because the desire to create a version for the PS5 has already been announced by the Japanese publisher. Let's not forget about the upcoming premiere of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is also likely to bring big revenues to the box office of Square Enix.

It's only a matter of time before Final Fantasy XVI hits the market. But there is only one question - what do we expect from the last part of the series?

1. Even more authentic characters and humor

One of the greatest strengths of Final Fantasy XV is the very authentic characters with whom the player learns incredibly and treats them like good friends, like in Persona 5. Of course, I'm talking about the Noctis team - these are the guests with whom Noctis constantly teases, they eat together, exchange opinions FFXV has set a very high bar in this regard, surpassing most RPG competitors. It will be good if FFXVI maintains such a high level. And at the same time, he will retain the excellent sense of humor that was once the standard in the series (see FFVI or FFVII).

2. A well-coordinated and complete script on the day of the premiere

The heroes of Noctis' retinue are magnificent. The only thing worse about consistency is in the narratives. This is the Achilles heel of Final Fantasy XV. The overall tone of the game's plot is exciting and really mature, but the narrative lacks consistency. Square Enix was well aware of this, adding more scripts many months after the premiere that filled in the gaps in the story. Let's hope Square Enix doesn't make that mistake in Final Fantasy 16 anymore and delivers a cohesive, multi-threaded story-in line with what we got in FFVII.

3. Tactical combat system

We do not expect a return to turn-based combat mechanics in Final Fantasy 16 - Square Enix, unfortunately, considers this decision anachronistic (although perhaps the company will consider Dragon Quest XI, which has already sold over 5.5 million copies!). We're probably doomed to real-time battles again. However, it would be nice if the Japanese studio moved away from the fighting style known from Kingdom Hearts and switched to strategic mechanics. In Final Fantasy XVI, you need an extensive menu responsible for the tactical settings of your comrades-in-arms (something like the Gambits from FFXII would be ideal).
