This tool fine-adjusts the damper lift rod for upright damper timing (spoon adjustment). Take two or three sample notes that have correct timing, or adjust to make them so. With the action removed from the piano, the lift rod is adjusted with the Turnbuckle so that those correct sample notes will have simultaneous movement of the hammer and damper when the whippen is moved. Adjust all the spoons (except samples) to duplicate this timing. With the action on the bench, posture is improved. With a visual reference point, the procedure is faster than traditional methods.
